A man has appeared in court in Co Donegal charged with assaulting two young girls at the turning on of a town's Christmas lights.

Davor Bosnak is charged with assault causing harm to the two teenage girls at Ardarvan, Buncrana on Friday night last at approximately 8pm.

The accused, aged 42, appeared at a special sitting of Donegal District Court in Donegal Town on Saturday afternoon.

He appeared before Judge Ciaran Liddy where he faced two charges of assault causing harm to the two teenagers.

It is understood the alleged assaults took place in the centre of the town which had been very busy following the official switching on of the town's Christmas lights.

The charges against Bosnak, of Marian Park, Buncrana, are Contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

The case was adjourned to Buncrana District Court on January 9th.

Legal aid was granted in the case.
