Man (20s) dies after car crashes over ditch in Co Cork

A young man has died after a single-vehicle crash in west Cork.

The man, who was aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene on a road between Bantry and Ballydehob.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at 9am on Monday morning.

The man's body was transported to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem.

According to the Irish Examiner, the vehicle crashed over a ditch in the Letterlickey area of Bantry before landing on its roof.

It is not known when the crash happened and the vehicle may have been in the field for some time before it was reported.

Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed at this time.

Anyone who was traveling between Bantry and Ballydehob during Sunday night or the early hours of Monday morning and who may have video footage are asked to contact gardaí.
