There are a total of 482 people waiting on trollies across Irish hospitals on Tuesday morning.

That includes 344 patients waiting in the emergency department, while 138 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

According to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association (INMO), the hospital with the worst overcrowding this morning is University Hospital Limerick, with 108 people without beds.

That is followed by Cork University Hospital with 54 people waiting on trollies, followed by University Hospital Galway and Sligo University Hospital with 45 and 44 people without beds respectively.

There are three patients under the age of 16 waiting on trollies in emergency departments nationwide.
