The pedestrian, in his late 30s, was struck on the R135 at Kilshane Cross.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Dublin City Morgue.

Gardaí said the lorry driver did not need immediate medical treatment.

The scene remained cordoned off on Thursday to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
