Residents in Donabate, Fingal, have heard plans for a housing development of 1,020 residential units and a 32-acre nature park.

There was good attendance as members of the public in the Donabate area attended a Corballis East community morning hosted by Aledo Donabate Ltd which took place in the Shoreline Hotel on Saturday, September 30th.

The coffee morning was to introduce residents in the area to the proposed plans which have gone to Fingal County Council. The plans include a housing development of 1,020 residential units, a 32-acre nature park, crèches and links to the Broadmeadow Greenway.

The overall project is expected to take approximately 10 years to complete. The centrepiece of the new development will include a 13-hectare nature park with links to the recently commenced Broadmeadow Estuary. The nature park will provide "a natural amenity for local residents who will be able to observe wildlife throughout the year".

In partnership with Fingal County Council, the area will "be maintained to be a world-class natural habitat, stimulate education and encourage recreation without disturbing the natural habitat".

A cycle and pedestrian link to the approved Broadmeadow Greenway will be developed as will a cycle and pedestrian link which will connect the proposed development to Donabate Train Station and Newbridge Demesne.

The development is strategically located in the centre of Donabate with access from the Donabate Distributor Road and access from the existing Balcarrick Road and Smyths Bridge Public House, opposite Donabate Train Station.
