Savannah Guthrie makes another plea to mother’s kidnappers: ‘Do the right thing’

Savannah Guthrie has issued another plea to the potential abductors of her mother Nancy, urging them to “do the right thing”.
The US broadcaster, 54, also described the situation as a “nightmare that will not end”, saying her family is in “agony” as they wait on her mother’s return.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at about 9.45pm near her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31, with authorities believing she was taken against her will.
Police have not shared a possible motive or arrested a suspect.
Guthrie shared a video message directed at her mother’s abductors to her 2.1 million Instagram followers on Monday.
The Today show host said: “I’m coming on today with a very specific message. It has been months since our mum was taken from us.
“Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed.
“We have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts.”
Guthrie continued: “The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way.
“So I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now, make the right choice, help us find her, tell us where to look for her.
“I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end.
“For all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”
The post, which was captioned “bring her home”, was flooded with comments of support from stars including Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt, as well as fellow American TV hosts such as Ricki Lake and Andy Cohen.
Nancy was reported missing on February 1 after she did not appear at a church, and investigators said they had found signs of forced entry at her home.
Two alleged ransom notes which included a deadline for a payment to be made by February 9 were sent to US media in the days after her disappearance.
Police were not able to verify the ransom notes as real, according to recent reports.
Guthrie, a prominent morning TV presenter in the US, temporarily stepped away from Today amid the ongoing investigation.
The broadcaster, who has presented the NBC news programme for almost 14 years, returned to her post in April.
Guthrie has also continued to speak out about her mother’s disappearance, having issued multiple emotional pleas on social media with her siblings Camron and Annie, begging for their mother to return home.
