Reality TV star Kim Kardashian will make her debut as a Broadway producer for a show which she hopes “sparks a real conversation about the true meaning of justice”.

The Fear Of 13 is based on a true story about a man on death row for a crime he did not commit and will be staged at the James Earl Jones Theatre this spring, starring Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson.

The businesswoman, 45, revealed her new role in a post on Instagram on Monday and said: “For the past decade, criminal justice reform has been a deeply personal mission of mine.

“I’ve seen first-hand how the system can fail, and I’ve committed myself to fighting for those who have been silenced.”

In the video, shared with her 352 million followers, she continued: “This play tells a powerful true story of Nick Yarris, who spent 22 years on death row for a crime he didn’t commit.

“Theatre has a unique power to move us. When you experience a story like this – live – it stays with you. It challenges you to see the human being behind the statistics.

“My hope is that this production sparks a real conversation about the true meaning of justice.”

The Skims co-founder has been studying to become a lawyer as she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was a member of OJ Simpson’s defence team.

Kardashian announced that she failed her bar exam in November 2025, but also said last year that she had graduated from a law programme.

She passed her “baby bar” on her fourth attempt in 2021.

The reality TV star has repeatedly expressed her interest in the legal profession and for criminal justice reform, and recently starred as a high-powered divorce lawyer in Ryan Murphy’s TV drama All’s Fair.

Last October, Kardashian told The Graham Norton Show that she hoped to practise law and in 10 years may “give up being Kim K” and become a trial lawyer instead.
