Kyle Hayes will serve 180 hours of community service in lieu of three months in jail

Last week, Hayes was disqualified from driving for two years after he failed to overturn his conviction for dangerous driving.

The court heard that Hayes drove at a speed of 155km/h and overtook nine vehicles in what Cork South State Solicitor Jerry Healy described as an “utterly unacceptable” manoeuvre.

Judge Walsh remanded Hayes, who sat alone in the courtroom, on continuing bail to appear before Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, on the suspended sentence for violent disorder, on March 19th.

The victim, identified as Ciaran Ryan, was present in court on Wednesday morning, Lily Buckley, prosecuting counsel, told the court.
