The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has issued a rare Condition Red Forest Fire warning, the highest level of Fire Danger warning, in advance of hot weather forecast for the weekend.  

The fast moving gorse fire was visible across counties Carlow, Wexford and Kilkenny.

Irish Water says overnight shutdowns have been introduced in parts of West Cork, Kerry and Galway, with more on the way.
