The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of Mr McCarthy (45) who was originally from Douglas.

UPDATE: A criminal investigation is continuing into the unexplained death of a Cork man, Darragh Sheehan (26), that occurred on Saturday night outside The Gleneagle Hotel on the Muckross Road in Killarney, County Kerry.

TRIBUTES have been paid to the proprietor of one of Cork’s most famous pubs who passed away this week. Robert (Bob) Healy, who ran the Blackman pub at Dublin Pike near Blackpool, passed away peacefully at the Bon Secours Hospital on Monday.

A Cork man has drowned in a freak swimming accident in Spain, The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed. Timothy Kelleher, mid to late 30s, drowned on Thursday evening at a resort in Northern Spain.

A MAN in his 20’s has been found dead on lower Oliver Plunkett Street at lunchtime today. A Garda spokesperson said that the body was discovered around 1. 30pm, following a report to Gardaí.
