The Magner family of Cork with Anna Geary

Sixteen families embarked on the quest to find Ireland’s Fittest Family - and now just four remain, as the grand final takes place on RTÉ1 tonight at 6.30pm.

Among the last teams standing are the Magners from Cork, coached by fellow Corkonian Anna Geary.

The Magner family is close-knit and competitive, with parents Ciara and John leading the way in fitness. Ciara took up running at 30 to join the action, while John, a former soccer player, transitioned to triathlons for a gentler challenge. Their sons are equally active playing gaelic, soccer, swimming, cycling and running.

They will have to face down three other families all coached by Davy Fitzgerald - the Ferns from Clare, the O’Connells from Waterford, and the Cummins from Kilkenny.

Among the challenges they face is a brand-new event – Valley of Pain.
