Hoping to revive the reputation of a once prestigious but now ailing production studio, a TV interviewer and his cameraman visit the home of one of the studio’s greatest stars, Chiyoko Fujiwara, a reclusive retired actress, who has agreed to a career-spanning interview. An animated love letter to Japanese cinema from late director Satoshi Kon.

Producer, arranger and musician, Belfast man Neil Martin is an artist who thrives on collaboration with performers, writers, and thinkers from all walks of life. This feature doc follows Neil through grief, celebration and new ambitions to ask whether the work of being an artist ever feels finished. Followed by a Q&A.

At the tail-end of the sixties, two out-of-work actors, Withnail and his flatmate ‘I’ (career-defining performances from Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann respectively) decide over several alcoholic beverages to escape the city and spend a delightful weekend in the country at a small cottage owned by Withnail’s uncle, Montague (Richard Griffiths). Writer/director Bruce Robinson will attend, and be presented with CIFF’s inaugural Honorary Disruptor Award by actor Paul McGann.

Strange things are happening in the forest! In the morning after Fox and Hare’s party with their friends, Owl has disappeared, mischievous rats are terrorising the neighbourhood, and an overflowing lake is threatening homes. Could this be the work of a megalomaniac beaver, desperate to be admired by others?

This new programme of work, from collections preserved in the IFI Irish Film Archive, includes a series of recently re-discovered Cork-themed films which provide a window onto the city and county in days gone by and further evidence of Cork’s rich amateur and professional film history. Followed by a Q&A.
