Glen Rovers’ clash with Inagh-Kilnamona in the AIB Munster Club SHC quarter-final will take place at Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday, November 1 with a 1.15pm throw-in.

While the last two years have seen Cork’s hurling representatives progress directly to the semi-finals of the provincial competitions as a result of the county reaching the All-Ireland senior hurling final, this time there are quarter-finals to be negotiated in each of the three grades.

It means a quick turn-around time and the Glen will be back in action a fortnight after beating St Finbarr’s in the county final.

The last home fixture for a Cork team in the Munster senior club hurling championship was two years ago, when Sarsfields beat Feakle at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh – however, the backlog of fixtures means that the main county ground will be hosting five finals across the weekend of October 30-November 1 and so the Glen will be in action at the Boreenmanna Road venue.

The Glen’s opponents claimed the Clare county title for the first time in more than a century when they overcame Kilmaley last Sunday week and can call on players like David Fitzgerald, Aidan McCarthy and Seán Rynne while goalkeeper Eamonn Foudy also has county experience. The game will be televised live by TG4.

The Glen’s last provincial championship came in 1976, when they also went on to All-Ireland glory. In 2016, when they last represented Cork as county champions, they made it to the final but lost to another Clare side, Ballyea, in Thurles.

Three years after that, they also advanced to Munster, having lost the county final to divisional side Imokilly. On that occasion, they lost to eventual winners Borris-Ileigh of Tipperary by two points at the semi-final stage.
