Business League: Helio Inter Cork secure Premier Division title for first time

Congratulations to Helio Inter Cork who won the Grandon’s Toyota Premier Division title for the first time following their win over Arc Rovers at Mayfield Park in the game of the week live showing last Friday night.

Helio were determined to get the win they needed by going at their opponents from the off.

Inside eight minutes Sergio Castana’s low free-kick picked out Joao Martins who in turn fed former Weigh Inn Dripsey talisman Ivan Milicevic. The striker’s shot was deflected past Aaron Hosford off the thigh of a defender to give the hosts a fortuitous lead.

The contest was sealed when Gabriel Da Silva set up Erik Pohlmann to score a second in the 74th minute.

In a goal fest at Ballinhassig, Adriano’s well-taken free quickly cancelled out Corey Harris’s 21st-minute opener for the visitors.

A delightful chip from Thiago was quickly followed by a second from Adriano to give the hosts a 3-1 half-time lead.

After Dave Barrett reduced the deficit from long range in the 56th minute, DoMA weathered the storm to score three unanswered breakaway goals through sub Ilija Zagorac 2 and Charles Martins.

There was still time for Grangevale’s Billy Tabb, Aaron O’Sullivan and Denys Marchenko to score three in the final 10 minutes with Tabb also hitting the crossbar from a penalty.

Grandon’s Toyota First Division:

ISF Ballyphehane Celtic 6 The Weigh Inn Dripsey 0

Ballyphehane Celtic, the only unbeaten team in the three divisions, sealed promotion and moved to within two points of the title after a commanding with over The Weigh Inn who competed throughout by lacked a cutting edge.

Ryan Constant atoned for an earlier missed penalty by converting from the spot in the 9th minute before Stephen Folasade chipped a second and Constant added a third in the 42nd minute.

Constant went on to net two more along with Alan Murphy in the second half to complete an 11th win.

OBS 0 Abbey Business 4

A long-range 24th-minute free-kick from Rob Twomey opened the scoring before a second from John McCleverty and a third from John McLoughlin finished the match as a contest. McLoughlin acrobatically netted a stunning fourth with two minutes remaining.

Jay Bazz Barbers 2 Marlboro Trust 2

Two teams at the wrong end of the table played out an exciting 2-2 draw with Daniel Fernandez and Luciano Carlos Da Silva cancelling out first-half goals from Barbers’ Adam O’Flynn and Ryan O’Driscoll (penalty).

Rob Susek (3), Cian Power (2) and Michael Jennings were on target for Council in a first win in five at The Regional Park last Sunday morning.

Title chasing ePower went two up in the first 45 through Ryan Murray and Joshua Dempsey before Marvin Ekhosuehi reduced the deficit on the hour.

Further goals from Kaelem Hennessy, Peadar Gilroy and Lachlan McRae sealed a fifth consecutive victory.

Valley remain a point behind leaders DCT after goals from Stephen Coughlan (3), John Noonan (2) and Mamza Sadiq confirmed a hat-trick of wins over the Tigers.

In the last of the evening fixtures, on Wednesday, Premier Division Arc Rovers inflicted a second consecutive defeat on champions-elect Helio Inter Cork, winning 7-0 with goals from Tyrese Raheem (3), Brian Kelly, Conor Ryan, Timothy Twomey and Dean Cummins.

On the same night, DHF Grangevale edged out Ciork Hospitals at Mayfield United Park. Inform Vale striker Aaron O’Sullivan beautifully glided a 19th minute free to the back of the net after Mark O’Connell was taken down on the edge of the area.

Gavin Woods’ Hospitals took the contest to their opponents and went 2-1 up inside a five-minute spell midways through the second 45 through Rob Hughes.

The hosts, who hadn’t won in four outings, got a lifeline within three minutes when Luke Dennehy’s marauding run and cross was finished on the goal-line by Niall Fitzgerald.

The inspirational O’Sullivan turned provider with 10 minutes remaining when he picked out Corey Harris to fire past Dave Kinsella for what would prove to be the winner.

In the second division, ePower East Cork moved clear into third after taking a 2nd minute lead through Ryan Murray. However, goals from Shaun Dunlea and Aaron Keohane tipped the scales in the visitors' favour before second-half strikes from Daragh Bagnell Hartnett and Finn Crowley maintained ePower’s title aspirations.
