Two Cork schools feature in what is likely to be termed the ‘group of death’ in the 2026-27 TUS Dr Harty Cup (U19AHC).
Gaelcholáiste Mhuire an Mhainistir Thuaidh and Midleton CBS were both placed in Group 2 in Friday’s draw, which also features the competition’s holders, St Joseph’s CBS of Nenagh.
The Tipperary school claimed a second title in three years back in January, while last season’s Dean Ryan Cup, the province’s premier schools competition at U17 level, was won by Ardscoil Rís and the Limerick outfit make up the quartet.

Given that Midleton beat Gaelcholáiste Mhuire in the 2024-25 Dean Ryan final, the section is set to be hugely competitive, with two schools emerging to qualify for the quarter-finals.
There are two other Cork sides in the 16-team competition. Christian Brothers College, who narrowly lost to Ardscoil Rís in the Dean Ryan decider in December of last year, are in the same group as St Flannan’s College of Ennis, who were beaten by Nenagh in the most recent Harty final.
They are joined by Our Lady’s Secondary School from Templemore and Hospital’s John The Baptist CS.

In Group 4, St Colman’s College of Fermoy have been drawn with St Joseph’s Secondary School from Tulla, Blackwaterer CS of Lismore and Limerick’s Castleyroy College.
The only pool with no Cork presence features Thurles CBS, De La Salle of Waterford, Tralee CBS and Cashel CS.
Cork’s last Harty win was in 2019, when Midleton CBS beat Christians, who made it back to the final the following year, but since then there has been no Leeside involvement in the decider.
