Cork City have been drawn away to play Douglas Hall in the Club Orange Women's FAI Cup quarter finals, with the game scheduled for the weekend ending August 2nd 2026.
This is part of a slate that features a number of local derbies, with Bohemians set to host Shelbourne and Galway United playing Connacht rivals Sligo Rovers. 2025 double champions Athlone Town will welcome Shamrock Rovers Lissywollen, and that completes the set.
The Rebel Army qualified for the Women’s FAI Cup quarter finals with a 1-0 victory over DLR Waves at the Munster FA Turner’s Cross Stadium.
Derek Coughlan’s side went into the game on the back of a three match unbeaten run in all competitions and they progressed to the last eight with a Zoe Finnerty goal assisted by Eva Mangan.
Douglas Hall have been on an adventure in this competition, after starting out in the First Round alongside clubs from the Women’s Development League like Cobh Ramblers and Kerry.
The club started their campaign with a game against Whitehall Rangers at the AUL Complex in Dublin, and they enjoyed a 3-1 win with Kara Lacey netting a brace and Tiffany Taylor getting one.
The Hall faced Dundalk last Sunday at Moneygourney and defeated the League of Ireland side 2-0 with Claire Shine and Rebekah Grant hitting the back of the net.
The club were full value for the win, beginning with a stern save by Hollie Bruton to deny Liadh Tobin.
Douglas Hall grew into the game in an attacking sense, with their first real attempt off target by Mary O’Sullivan in the 24th minute.
The CWSSL side took the lead after the break, with a stunning strike from 35 yards out that the Dundalk goalkeeper had no chance of getting too.
Douglas Hall doubled their advantage in the 57th minute when Rebekah Grant saw the keeper off her line and chipped the ball into the top corner.
The CWSSL side are now facing Cork City in the Women’s FAI Cup for the second time in three seasons, following on from a 9-0 victory for the Rebel Army in 2024.
Kiera Sena, Becky Cassin and Eva Mangan all scored braces, with Coleen Kennedy O’Connell, Chloe Atikinson, and Heidi Mackin also found the target.
The Rebel Army defeated Bohemians in the next round and were downed by Shelbourne in the semi-finals at Tolka Park.
City are now aiming to reach the semi-finals of a major competition for the third time in four seasons, after making it to the final four of the 2023 edition of the Avenir Sports All Island Cup.
