Cork County Board have confirmed the times and dates for the seven RedFM Hurling League finals, which will take place across the weekend of July 10-12.
The Division 1 decider will be a repeat of the Co-op SuperStores Premier SHC deciders of both 2022 and 2024 as Sarsfields take on Midleton. Sars won both of those and are chasing a fourth straight league title, having won three on the trot since Johnny Crowley’s return as manager, but Midleton have been the form team in the current campaign.
The Magies, under new manager Pádraig O’Shea, won all nine regular games in the league, including a victory against Sars at Clonmult Memorial Park last Thursday week, though both sides were missing players who are certain to feature in the decider.
Fittingly, Carrigtwohill will be the venue next Friday night at 7.30pm – the trophy for the top flight is named in honour of Carrig native Denis Conroy, who was Cork County Board chairperson for the historic All-Ireland double of 1990.
Also on Friday night is the Division 3 final between Ballinhassig and Blarney, which also has a 7.30pm throw-in time, Ballincollig the venue.
The Division 2 decider takes place on Saturday at 12 noon as Erin’s Own and Bride Rovers do battle in an all-east Cork tie in Lisgoold. That evening, Kilworth face Aghbullogue in Riverstown for the Division 4 title while Brinny hosts the Division 7 clash of Ballinora and Barryroe – both of those games starting at 7pm.
Meanwhile, the McCarthy Insurance Group Divisions/Colleges Football Championship semi-final between Muskerry and Avondhu – which had been scheduled for Tuesday of this week – will now take place next Tuesday night, July 7, in Macroom at 7.30pm.
The winners will advance to face a Carbery team that edged Duhallow on Tuesday – up for grabs is the Tadhg Crowley Cup and a place in the quarter-finals of the competition proper.
The remaining two finals – also both Imokilly derbies – both take place on Sunday at 2pm. In Division 5, Cloyne and Dungourney face off in Castlemartyr while Aghada do battle with Sarsfields’ second team in Cobh for Division 6 honours.
