No shortage of drama on the final weekend of the McCarthy Insurance Group Football Leagues as teams battled for very different targets, with promotion and relegation still very much on the table.
In Division 1, when all was said and done, Knocknagree and Castlehaven will meet in the league final, with Éire Óg and Douglas relegated to the second tier for 2027. Match reports on all the Division 1 games are attached to the start of this piece.
Division 2 promotion spots were decided prior to the final weekend, with Uibh Laoire and Carrigaline moving up.
At the other end, St Michael’s are pretty much relegated due to their scoring difference, but the second spot won’t be confirmed for another week or so, with O’Donovan Rossa and Castletownbere also on four points. O’Donovan Rossa are away to Dohenys on Tuesday before Castletownbere travel to Brinny to face Valley Rovers on Wednesday week.
In Division 3, Bishopstown completed the job as they earned promotion thanks to a 0-19 to 1-14 home win over Rockchapel. All they needed was a draw. Gary Holland, Odhran Foley, Kieran McFadden, Conor Dunne and Colm Daly were among the scorers for the city side.

Joining them in elevation are Kanturk, after a Daniel O’Connell goal proved crucial in a 1-12 to 0-12 away win over Fermoy, who are now demoted alongside Rockchapel. Ian Walsh top scored for the winners with 0-6.
Buttevant were always likely to move up in Division 4 and made absolutely sure with a hard-fought 1-15 to 1-12 away success over Adrigole. The Hanlon brothers, Conor and David, combined for 0-10, while Edmund O'Donoghue's late goal was key.
Joining Buttevant will be Glanmire, who edged out Kilmurry and Boherbue on scoring difference to finish second.
Glanmire hammered Kiskeam on home soil, 3-17 to 0-8. Colm O’Neill, the former Cork forward now in goal for Glanmire, still found a way onto the scoresheet with 0-3. He landed a two‑point free and a placed ball. The 2010 All-Ireland winner also did his primary job very well.
Gabriel Rangers and Aghada have been relegated.
In Division 5, Denis Reen’s Mitchelstown will go into their league final in fine fettle. They finished top after seeing off hosts St Vincent’s 2-12 to 0-11, with James Sheehan hitting 0-5.
The Avondhu side will meet surprise packages Canovee in two weeks’ time after they came out of Baltimore with an eye-catching 0-16 to 0-11 triumph over Ilen Rovers.
Jack Kelleher, as usual, was the chief scorer with 0-7, while Mark Healy also stood out with 0-3.
At the opposite end, Kinsale and Ballydesmond go through the trapdoor.
In Division 6, Kilmacabea and Aghinagh move up the ladder, while Na Piarsaigh and Glanworth have been demoted.

The Division 7 promotion spots were known before Round 9, with Carbery Rangers’ second team set to face local rivals St James’ in the league final. Mayfield and Nemo Rangers’ third string are relegated down to Seandún for 2027.
