Cork football legends head up new Coláiste Chríost Rí management ticket

Brian Morgan, Billy Morgan and Colin Corkery are part of the new Colaiste Chríost Rí senior football management ticket for the 2026/27 season.

Coláiste Chríost Rí have confirmed a new management team for the 2026/27 senior football season.

Brian Morgan, Billy Morgan and Colin Corkery will join forces with Brian Coughlan and Colm Ó Meachair as the school looks to strengthen its position at the B grade, having dropped from the Corn Uí Mhuirí in 2024.

Chríost Rí remain the last Cork school to win the Corn Uí Mhuirí, lifting the trophy in 2011. The appointment of this five-man ticket is viewed as a significant step in the right direction.

The return of Billy Morgan brings a level of experience few schools can match. One of the most influential figures in Cork football history. He captained Cork to the 1973 All-Ireland title.

His managerial record is even more substantial. He guided Cork to back-to-back All-Ireland titles in 1989 and 1990.

Alongside him, Colin Corkery adds the perspective of one of Cork’s greatest forwards. A 1993 All-Star, a four-time Munster champion and a central figure for Nemo Rangers for many years.

Both men carry the weight of achievement, but more importantly, they carry a connection to Chríost Rí’s footballing tradition.

There is optimism around the school that this blend of tradition, experience and fresh coaching energy can spark a revival.

The U14 group’s success a few years ago showed that the talent is there, the task now is to nurture it, challenge it and prepare it for the demands of senior football.

Chríost Rí will enter the 2026/27 season with purpose guided by figures who know exactly what the jersey means.
