Cobh Ramblers Football Club have appointed David Lenane as the club's new general manager.

The Waterford native takes up the role that will involve looking after the entire unit at St Colman's Park, from the first team under Fran Rockett to the academy and their developing women's sides.

Lenane takes up the position after holding a number of different roles within the FAI, including Development Officer and Coordinator for Women's Football.

The appointment was announced with a short statement released on Cobh's social media: "Cobh Ramblers FC is pleased to announce the appointment of our new General Manager, David Lenane.

"David joins the Rams with vast experience of working in the Irish football landscape having spent over 19 years working in the FAI across various roles.

"“I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed General Manager at Cobh Ramblers Football Club.

"This club has a rich history and a deep connection with the community, and it is a privilege to be part of its future.

"I look forward to working closely with everybody to ensure the smooth running of the club both on and off the pitch.

"Together, we will focus on maintaining high standards in our operations, supporting our teams at all levels, and strengthening our relationships within the wider community.

"My commitment is to uphold the proud traditions of Cobh Ramblers while driving forward initiatives that support growth, compliance, and community engagement. I aim to foster an atmosphere of collaboration, transparency, and shared purpose so that we can all contribute to making this club even stronger.

"Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication. I am eager to embark on this journey with you and to help guide Cobh Ramblers towards a successful and sustainable future.”"

Lenane joins Cobh Ramblers at a key point in their season, with the first team challenging for promotion under Rockett.

The club are currently sixth in the table, level on points with Athlone Town, and fighting to get into the play-off for the third time in four seasons.

The Ramblers are doing this with a young squad that includes East Cork locals Luka Le Bervet and Oscar Ahern.

Former players have also been making a mark in England with Charlie Cummins representing Exeter City in League One and Gabriel Otegbayo is with Sheffield Wednesday while lining out for the Republic of Ireland U21s.

The club also have ambitions of playing senior women's football in the League of Ireland, and they are building towards that through the Women's Development Leagues with a squad managed by Barbara O'Connell.

Lenane will oversee everything Claret and Blue, while working with the club's Director of Football Conor Meade.
