Man arrested after €1.67m cannabis seizure in Cork

Cannabis worth almost €1.7m has been seized in Cork and a man in his 30s has been arrested.
The 83.5kg haul of herbal cannabis, with an estimated street value of €1.67m, was discovered during an intelligence-led operation on Monday.
The operation involved the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, and Revenue customs officers.
One male was arrested and is being detained at a Garda station in Co Cork under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson added.
