Business League: Promotion-chasing Here’s Health drew 1-1 with OBS in the Grandon’s Toyota First Division Match of the Week at Ballea Park.
The live match of the week was in Ballea Park featuring promoted OBS against early leaders Here’s Health.
After a lively opening quarter of an hour, the contest settled into a fascinating encounter as both teams pushed for the lead goal.
The visitors’ ability to build from the back produced the first goal in the 37th minute. The ball was taken up to the edge of the area by full-back Colm Daly whose pinpoint cross was superbly headed low past David Guiney by Callan Dempsey.
OBS drew level on the hour as another cross led to a goal, this time by Anthony O’Reilly. As the ball fell between strikers Niall O’Brien and Anthony Moynihan eight yards out, the latter was quickest to react to turn in for the equaliser.
In-form Ballyphehane Celtic remain unbeaten in league one after repeating their shield quarter-final win over Jay Bazz at Mayfield Park.
Top-scorer Timmy O’Reilly struck twice in each half with Michael Barry (2), Robert Tier and sub Ryan Constant also among the goals for James Corcoran’s talented charges. Despite their heavy defeat, the Barbers had their chances to go in front early on and managed to pull level with Celtic through Eoghan O’Sullivan a minute after O’Reilly’s 18th-minute opener.
Abbey remain in the top three after their win over second-from-bottom Marlboro Trust at Ballinhassig.
All three goals were scored in the first 45 courtesy of Paul Horan, Stephen O’Donovan and John McLoughlin. Daniel Jaouhari added to Trust’s bad luck with a penalty miss fifteen minutes from time.
ePower’s recent good form continued with a big win over Carrigaline Celtic at Mayfield Park. Lachlan McRae scored in the first minute and by the 59th had added two more along with one from Peadar Gilroy.
Valley moved to within a point of leaders DCT after goals from Adrian Carr and Joaquin Almeida sealed a 2-1 win over debutants AI FC at Conna.
Promise Okafor reduced the deficit with a reply for the home team in the 65th minute.
A brace from Robbie Burke and a third from Eoin Field put leaders Munster’s DCT three to the good at Mayfield Park before Eoin O’Sullivan gave ASH a lifeline in the 73rd minute.
The visitors held on to register a sixth win in seven and stay a point clear with a match in hand.
Third played fourth in what proved to be a high-scoring draw at the Regional Park.
Council went two up early on through Rob Susek and Ciaran O’Regan and although Sean Buckley cut the lead in half before half-time, second-half goals from Susek and Jason Creamer looked to have put Council out of sight with 18 minutes left.
A miss-hit back-pass fell kindly for Flecher Fynn to keep Pfizer in the contest before Timmy Healy blasted in a free for 4-3. In injury time, Pfizer keeper Stephen O’Regan forced the ball in from a corner to bring the curtain down on an eventual morning.
Champions Doolan’s entertained unbeaten Arc at Rockenham and after Arc’s Tyrese Raheem and the Cow’s Thomas Kelly exchanged goals, Paudie Cotter’s penalty gave the visitors the lead for a second time with thirty-four minutes still left to play.
The hosts were not to be denied and Aaron Hennessy set up Jamie O’Donovan to equalize in the 69th minute and avoid a third defeat in the campaign.
An understrength Hospitals led at the break through Padraig Smith’s fine 22nd goal.
Once sub Oleksandr Topolnytskyi was quickest to react to level after Hospitals’ keeper Dave Kinsella made an excellent save from Dave Barrett’s 49th penalty, further goals from Topolnytskyi, Corey Harris and Aaron O’Sullivan put the Vale out of sight by the 76th minute for a second win in three.
MHS had to come from behind to set up a semi-final date with holders DHF Grangevale in the last of the quarter-final ties to be decided at Ringmahon Park.
After a goalless first half, Oleg Jatula broke the deadlock for The LAB only for a late double within a minute from sub Ciaran O’Suilleabhain and Aaron Ahern sealed a passage to the last four for Harvey’s.
