Another round of the RedFM Hurling League and another chance for Midleton extend their cushion before the chasing pack try to close things.

While the Magpies’ last win, at home to Charleville, came on a Sunday, their away wins against Killeagh and Glen Rovers were midweek affairs that allowed Pádraig O’Shea’s side to pull clear at the top as they maintained their 100 percent record.

Next up for Midleton is tonight’s home tie against Blackrock, who currently sit in fifth with five points, having conceded four goals in a defeat to Sarsfields in their last outing.

That game takes place at 7.30pm, with the remaining four top-flight fixtures all in the traditional league slot of Sunday morning at 11.30am.

City pair Douglas and St Finbarr’s are the nearest challengers to the east Cork side, each of them two points back after winning four out of five.

Douglas have an all-Seandun derby as they welcome Glen Rovers – in eighth place, with three points – while the Barrs host a Fr O’Neill’s side that has yet to pick up a point.

Sunday’s other fixtures see fourth-placed Sars make the short journey to face Carrigtwohill, who are in a share of sixth with Charleville – the north Cork side’s assignment is the visit of Killeagh, who are in ninth place.

In Division 2, both of the east Cork sides in a share of the lead are in action on Sunday morning. Bride Rovers are away to bottom side Ballymartle, while Erin’s Own entertain Kanturk, who are just two points off the top pair. Ballincollig, who share third place with the Duhallow outfit, take on Na Piarsaigh on Friday night.
