Ringmahon Rangers hit Riverstown for four in their Munster Junior Premier league game

In the 55th minute, Ringmahon increased their lead when Jordan Delurey hit an absolute rocket from the left wing that flew over the keeper’s head into the top corner to complete his hat-trick for the second game in a row.

RINGMAHON Rangers had a convincing victory over Riverstown in the Munster Junior Premier league on Thursday night in Ringmahon Park.

Ringmahon stretched their lead to five points over Douglas Hall with another superb display of attacking football. 

The defending champions are in pole position to retain their league title and they looked so strong all over the pitch.

Ringmahon had some excellent performances from Philly Keane and Adam O’Callaghan at the back while Kalem Cashman, Dylan O’Regan and Gary Kelleher put in sterling performances.

Player of the match was Jordan Delurey, who put in a masterclass performance throughout the ninety minutes.

Riverstown are just above the relegation zone and they will need to start picking up points to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight. They had some notable displays from Luke Mylod, Alex O’Driscoll and Kian Carroll.

Ringmahon dominated the early exchanges with Dylan O’Regan pulling the strings in midfield. 

In the fifth minute, he dinked a superb ball into the path of Stephen Kennedy Osubor but his shot flew high over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

In the ninth minute Ringmahon winger Kalem Cashman raced down the right wing and picked out Kennedy inside the box but Riverstown keeper Jack Marah saved his well struck effort.

In the 14th minute Riverstown forward Luke Mylod showed great pace to get away from two Ringmahon players and he played a superb ball into Gary Connolly but his goal bound shot from eight yards was blocked by Adam O’Callaghan to prevent a certain goal.

Three minute later Riverstown came close to opening the scoring when Luke Mylod’s superb effort from 25 yards was inches away from finding the target.

In the 20th minute Ringmahon opened the scoring when Ciaran Kearney threaded a great ball into Jordan Delurey who turned two Riverstown players on the edge of the box and curled a beauty to the top corner to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Ringmahon had a great chance to double their lead in the 33rd minute when Dylan O’Regan put a great ball over the Riverstown defence into Alan Greaney but his shot was superbly saved by Riverstown keeper Jack Marah.

In the 43rd minute, Riverstown levelled matters when Luke Mylod’s free kick was headed to the roof of the net by Fionn O’Sullivan to make it 1-1.

Just on the stroke of half time Ringmahon the lead when Kalem Cashman picked out Jordan Delurey unmarked inside the box who headed the ball to the back of the net to give his side a 2-1 advantage at the break.

In the 75th minute Ringmahon keeper Ross Cronin’s long ball over the Riverstown defence fell to Stephen Kennedy who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-1.

Three minutes later Ringmahon substitute Oran Ross got on the end of a superb ball by Stephen Kennedy but his shot from eight yards was superbly saved by Riverstown keeper Jack Marah.

Ringmahon had a few chances to add to their tally but they will be delighted with this result and especially with the quality of football they played.
