The second round of the McCarthy Insurance Group Football League is upon us.
It’s a chance for teams to continue the positive result they picked up first day out or for some teams to try and get points on the board after defeat two weeks ago.
There are four Division 1 games down for decision on Sunday with all starting at 11.30am.
The holders St Finbarr’s got the top tier action underway last night when they played Éire Óg in Togher. The Barrs won 0-14 to 0-10.
Nemo Rangers will look to make it two wins from two when they travel to Cill na Martra. Robbie O’Dwyer’s side were impressive in a comfortable victory over Douglas with young gun Bryan Hayes excelling.
Cill na Martra rallied to grab a share of the spoils on home soil in Round 1 against Newcestown with Morgan O’Sullivan’s outfit always tough to defeat on their own patch.
Douglas will no doubt be looking for a reaction when they entertain Clonakilty.
The city side had the best defensive record in Division 1 in 2025, so they would have naturally been disappointed conceding 0-18 and only scoring 1-6 against Nemo Rangers.

Clonakilty, last year’s beaten league finalists, dug deep to get the better of local rivals Carbery Rangers in Rosscarbery on the opening weekend.
Newly promoted Knocknagree will be looking to build on their positive result first day out when they drew with St Finbarr’s away from home.
John Fintan Daly’s side welcome Castlehaven to Duhallow for what should be a very intriguing fixture.
The Haven have struggled to make an impression in the league in recent years, but they did draw with Éire Óg in Ovens last Sunday week.
Finally from Division 1, Newcestown and Carbery Ranges lock horns in Newcestown.
Jim O’Sullivan’s charges drew with Cill na Martra while Carbery Rangers were edged out by Clonakilty last time out.
In Division 2, Ballincollig will be targeting an improved performance when they entertain Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh tonight.
New manager Aidan Kelleher saw his side defeated by Carrigaline on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-13 a fornight ago.
Also tonight, two teams who won first day out clash in Dunmanway in the shape of Dohenys and Carrigaline.

On Sunday, Clyda Rovers host Valley Rovers, Castletownbere welcome St Michael’s to Beara while O’Donovan Rossa travel to Uibh Laoire.
