Munster GAA have announced that they have set up a new football development committee to improve the game in the province.

The committee will be chaired by former Cork football manager Brian Cuthbert. The body also features Gary Brennan (Clare), John Fintan Daly (Cork), Liam Hassett (Kerry), Stephen Lavin (Limerick), David Power (Tipperary) and Timmy O’Keeffe (Waterford).

It was given the green light at the meeting of Munster Council officials on Thursday night.

Cuthbert, who is currently the boss of Bishopstown’s footballers, who play in the McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC, was part of the Cork football five-year plan committee, which concluded in 2024.

Provincial games manager, Kerry’s 2007 All-Ireland SFC winning manager Pat O’Shea, will be the committee’s servicing officer.

Elsewhere, the Cork footballers’ Munster quarter-final clash with Limerick has been fixed for Sunday, April 12 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh with throw-in at 2pm.

It will be the third campaign on the trot that the counties will meet at the quarter-final stage with Cork winning the previous two contests pretty comfortably.

John Cleary’s side will be hot favourites to reach the last four where they would then meet either Tipperary or Waterford.

Cork have avoided locking horns with Kerry until potentially the Munster final, which if it was to happen, it would take place at Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney.
