UCC will face reigning champions DCU at the quarter-final stage of the Sigerson Cup after the draws were made on Thursday afternoon.

Paul O’Keeffe’s side had anticipated that they would have the advantage of being on home turf next week having played their previous two games up the country.

They will face the holders next Tuesday at the DCU Sportsground with throw-in at 7.30pm.

UCC will come into the game on the back of two successive victories over ATU Sligo and Queen’s University Belfast as they bypassed Round 3.

The last win was particularly impressive against a strong Queen's team. UCC were trailing late on, but got the last three scores including a two-pointer from Ruairí Murphy to prevail by two points.

On the other hand, DCU had to navigate the Round 3 juncture after losing in Round 2A to University of Limerick having beaten Ulster University in the opening round.

DCU got the better of ATU Galway on Wednesday night.

UCC are back in the business end for the first time since winning the competition for the 24th time in 2023.

They lost at the Round 3 stage in 2024 before losing their two games last year.
