Four CWWSL teams have great wins and advance to Munster finals and an All-Ireland semi final

It was a hugely successful and memorable weekend for the CWSL Cork girls’ soccer teams, with four Cork teams producing outstanding performances across different age groups to progress in their respective cup competition finals.
From thrilling local derbies, to dominant displays in challenging conditions, the standard of football on show highlighted the bright future of the girls game in Cork.
Saturday kicked off with an exciting Munster Shield clash at U13 level, where two Cork teams faced each other at College Corinthians.
Cork Red and Cork White went head-to-head in a competitive and entertaining encounter, with Cork Red eventually claiming a 2–1 victory.
Cork White started the stronger of the two sides, showing confidence in possession and threatening in the early stages.
However, Cork Red gradually grew into the contest and began to dictate the tempo of the game.
Their breakthrough came through a superb team move that was switched from right to left, allowing Ava Sexton to finish low into the far corner with great composure.
White remained dangerous on the counter-attack and were rewarded just before half-time when Faye Lerner calmly converted a penalty to level the score at 1–1.
The second half saw Cork Red emerge with renewed energy and control. They dominated for long spells and pressed White deep into their own half.
The winning goal came from a well-worked set piece.
Ellie O’Shea’s corner was met by Éabha Ni Duinin whose powerful volley crashed off the crossbar. The talented Elisabeth O’Mahony reacted quickest to the rebound and slotted home to restore Red’s lead.
Cork Red continued to create chances, while White threatened on the break, but a strong defensive display and several brave interventions from Zoe Molloy ensured Red held on for a deserved win.
Cork Red will now face Clare in the Munster Final in Tralee on Sunday.
Next up were the Cork U14s, who took on Clare in the quarter-final of the inter-League competition which was held in Ballinhassig.
Despite horrific weather conditions, Cork delivered a dominant performance, recording an emphatic 9–0 victory to secure their place in the All-Ireland semi-final.
From the first whistle, Cork controlled the game with high intensity, sharp passing, and excellent movement.
The entire squad, from numbers 1 to 20, played their part in a superb team display.
Captain on the day Emelia King led by example with an influential performance in centre back while winger Molly Dennis caused constant problems with her pace and creativity.
The goals were spread across six different players, underlining the depth of talent within the group.
Skye Collins, Sophia Rice, Anna Twomey Blanco, Emily Donovan, Melanie Murphy, and Rose O’Shaughnessy all found the net, with several strikes showcasing both individual brilliance and team cohesion.
It was a performance that demonstrated not only quality but also hunger, discipline, and unity.
The Cork U16 side also booked their place in a Munster final with a superb away performance and 2-1 win over Limerick Desmond League.
The Cork goal scorers were Leah Meehan-French and Elizabeth O'Mahony. They now face Waterford in the Munster final on Saturday in Mayfield.
The final game of the weekend took place on Sunday in Passage, where Cork White and Cork Red met once again, this time in the U12 Munster semi-final.
The match was a highly entertaining contest filled with energy, skill, and determination from both sides.
Cork White emerged victorious with a 2–1 win, thanks to two goals from the talented Sarra Moussa, who showed great composure and finishing ability in front of goal.
Cork Red fought hard throughout and were rewarded with a superb free-kick from Zoe O’Leary, which showcased her technique and confidence under pressure.
Both teams played with intensity and sportsmanship, producing a thrilling spectacle for supporters.
The quality on display at such a young age highlighted the strength of girls’ football development in Cork and the promising future ahead.
The Cork White team will now face South Tipperary in the final in Tralee on Sunday at 4pm.
Across all three fixtures, the weekend was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and dedication.
Players showed technical ability, tactical awareness, and a strong competitive spirit, while coaches and support staff ensured the teams were well-prepared despite difficult conditions.
With Cork Red U12, U13s and U16s now preparing for a Munster Final and the U14s advancing to an All-Ireland semi-final, the message is clear: girls’ soccer in Cork is thriving.
