Fintan Goold is set to coach the Macroom footballers next season.
The former Cork footballer, who won an All-Ireland medal with the Rebels 15 years ago, is expected to be part of the new management ticket of the Muskerry club following the departure of former Kerry star Aidan O’Mahony recently.
Ex-Macroom player Ciarán Murphy will be taking over as the new manager with Concubhar Murray one of the selectors.
Goold had been based in New Jersey for work duties in recent years, but is now back on Leeside.
He had been putting in the miles with transatlantic journeys to help Macroom avoid the drop from the third grade of the Cork football championship.

The team in green and white have struggled at Premier Intermediate level over the last few years given they have ended up in the last three relegation play-offs. They have shown another side to their game though by winning them all, beating Na Piarsaigh, Ilen Rovers and Bandon in high-stakes encounters.
Goold’s presence has played a big factor with the hope now that Macroom can start looking upwards. They have a few promising young players coming up from the underage ranks.
In the 2026 McCarthy Insurance Group PIFC group stage, Macroom face Castletownbere, Kiskeam and Aghada.

Macroom lost to Castletownbere by a point in their group this year while they also locked horns with Kiskeam in the group where the spoils were shared.
Macroom haven’t had a sustained challenge since losing the final at this grade to Clyda Rovers back in 2013. That came three years after they won the IFC title. They haven’t reached the business end of the PIFC since a quarter-final loss to Newmarket in 2017.
Finally, Eamon O’Connor has been confirmed as Fermoy’s new football coach.
He was previously a selector with the Cork U20 footballers under Ray O’Mahony.

Fermoy suffered relegation from the McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC this year.
They meet Naomh Abán, Ballinora and Nemo Rangers' second team in their respective PIFC group in 2026.
