Ireland have been drawn to face Scotland, Uruguay, and Portugal in the pool stage at the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

The 11th Rugby World Cup kicks off in Australia on October 1, 2027

It will be the the third consecutive World Cup at which Ireland have faced Scotland in the pool stage.

Uruguay and Spain will be the other two opponents in Pool D.

If Ireland manage to win Pool D, they will face a third-placed team from Pool B, E or F in the round of 16.

Should they win that, and progress to the quarter-final, they would play the victor of the round of 16 clash between the Pool C winner (possibly Argentina) and a third-placed team from Pool A, E, or F.

England would be the likely obstacle in the last four should Ireland make history and breach the quarters for the first time

2027 Rugby World Cup draw:

Pool A: New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Hong Kong China

Pool B: South Africa, Italy, Georgia, Romania

Pool C: Argentina, Fiji, Spain, Canada

Pool D: Ireland, Scotland, Uruguay, Portugal

Pool E: France, Japan, USA, Samoa

Pool F: England, Wales, Tonga, Zimbabwe.
