Women's World Cup draw: Ireland drawn with France, Netherlands and Poland
2025 UEFA Women's Nations League Promotion/Relegation Play-off Second Leg, King Power at Den Dreef, Leuven, Belgium 28/10/2025
The Ireland Women’s National Team will compete in Group A2 as part of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers as they set about reaching the tournament for a second time.
Ireland will take on France, Netherlands and Poland, who are 6th,11th and 26th respectively in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings.
Technically, UEFA refer to these fixtures as the Women's European Qualifiers as they are connected to the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League but it all leads towards qualification for the next World Cup in Brazil.
After finishing behind Slovenia – on goal difference – League B2 in the 2025 UEFA Nations League, Carla Ward’s team overcame Belgium in a Promotion / Relegation Play-Off to secure a place in League A.
Ireland previously competed in League A in 2024 and advanced to Round 2 of the Qualifying Play-Offs for EURO 2025. For the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Ireland are guaranteed a Play-Off spot should they not qualify automatically from their group.
Ireland made their FIFA Women’s World Cup debut in 2023 when competing in Australia against the co-hosts, as well as Canada and Nigeria. Now they are aiming to become one of 11 European teams to secure a place in Brazil through these Qualifiers.
Ireland have previously played France on 14 occasions – winning the last meeting in July 2024 in Páirc Uí Chaoimh – while they have met Netherlands and Poland seven times each.
The Qualifiers will be played on the following dates:
Tuesday, March 3rd | Match Day 1
Saturday, March 7th | Match Day 2
Tuesday, April 14th | Match Day 3
Saturday, April 18th | Match Day 4
Friday, June 5th | Match Day 5
