Ballincollig suffered their second loss of the Domino’s Men’s Super League when they went down to St Vincent’s from Dublin by at MTU.
The home side trailed at half-time 51-46. However, the story of the opening two quarters was the silly fouls they gave up that sent Vincent’s to the foul-line 14 times, making 12. Ballincollig were also too reliant on their professionals, who grabbed all bar five of their first-half tally.

The pattern of the second half didn’t change much with the lead exchanging hands a number of times. If you send your opponent to the foul line 32 times, you won’t be winning many games.

Mitchell was causing Vincent’s all sorts of problems in the paint and he gave his side a 12-10 lead midway through the opening period.
The Dubliners responded with two huge efforts beyond the arc by Richardson and James Phelan to lead 16-12 to force the Village into a timeout. English native Steel reduced the deficit to three points with a strong move to hoop for Ballincollig to trail 22-19 at the end of the quarter.
Ballincollig regained the lead 26-22 with two quick baskets and a monstrous three from their other American player Latrell Jossell two minutes into the second quarter. A pair of long-range efforts beyond the arc by Vincents Richardson and Adam Jakub Lisewski tied it 38-38 midway through the quarter.
The visitors raced into a 49-40 lead with big buckets by Richardson and Phelan. However, two monstrous threes by Jossell reduced the deficit for the Village to trail 51-46 at the half.

Both sides traded backs at the start of the third period; Richardson continued to hurt the Village with his slick shooting, bringing his tally to 20 points, 57-48 three minutes from the restart. Ballincollig responded with baskets by Steel, Jossell and Mitchell and but when Keelan Ciarns nailed a huge effort beyond the arc, they regained the lead 60-59 midway through the period.
