Douglas move on in the AOS Security Seandún Junior A FC following their win over Glanmire

Defending champions Douglas have booked their place in the next round of the play-off series of the AOS Security Seandún Junior A Football Championship as they defeated Glanmire before a sizeable attendance at Ballinlough.
Douglas have earned themselves a meeting with Whitechurch in the next round.
While Douglas held the upper hand for most of this game, their two late goals were decisive, while Glanmire got the game’s only two-pointer in the second half.
James Murphy opened the scoring for Glanmire within seconds of the throw-in, before Glanmire found themselves pinned back.
Oliver Haynes-Barry, Donnacha O’Callaghan and Eoin O’Flynn each tagged on unanswered points, to give Douglas a lead of 0-3 to 0-1. Diarmuid McCarthy stretched the margin with the game’s first pointed free for Douglas.
O’Flynn added his second point from play, before Glanmire began to have Douglas pinned back. Douglas net-minder James O’Flaherty denied Glanmire three goal-scoring opportunities in this phase.

Wayward shooting was also proving to be costly for Glanmire. James Murphy and Barry Crehan each added points from play for Glanmire, entering the second quarter, before Haynes-Barry replied with his second point for Douglas.
Cathal Quirke and Eoghan Murphy responded with a point each for Glanmire in the closing minutes of the first half.
This left the half-time scoreline reading 0-6 to 0-5 in favour of Douglas.
Alan O’Hare tagged on a point from play for Douglas, before persistent fouling was proving to be costly for Glanmire.
Glanmire goalkeeper Jake O’Leary was pulling off some spectacular saves, before Evan Collins slotted over two unanswered frees.
Glanmire responded with a point from play by Aidan Roche. Naoise Marron got the game’s only two-pointer for Glanmire, to leave the minimum between the sides.
Harry Quilligan of Douglas exchanged points with James Murphy, before Glanmire found themselves on the back foot entering the final quarter.
Collins tagged on his third point for Douglas, which was also his only point from play. Donnacha Mac Phaidín set up McCarthy for the first goal by Douglas in the 50th minute, while Glanmire replied with a pointed free by James Murphy.
Wayward kick-outs were proving to be Glanmire’s undoing and two minutes into stoppage time, Jamie O’Brien drilled home a second goal for Douglas with the game’s final piece of action.
