Bandon are through to the semi-final of the Co-op Superstores IAHC championship after their win over Erin’s Own at Ballinhassig on Saturday.

Overall, they were the better side with former Cork player Michael Cahalane leading the charge for his side, with Peter Murphy, Tim Twohig and Jack Cullinane also playing their part in their win.

Erin’s Own didn’t give up easily and a late goal made it interesting but time wasn’t on their side as Bandon ran out deserving winners.

Cahalane opened the scoring for Bandon, with Carey adding a second and when Cullinane added a third, they were 0-3 to no score up after five minutes.

Kieran 'Hero' Murphy got Erin’s Own off the mark from a free, with Donncha Collins and Ronan Blackton seeing the sides level after nine minutes.

Cahalane and Will Fenton exchanged scores, before points from Carey and Charlie Long put Bandon two to the good, 0-6 to 0-4.

With 15 minutes gone the first goal came, when Mark Sugrue set up Eolann McSweeney to score. Cahalane, with two, and Cullinane added points to make it 1-9 to 0-5.

They stretched that lead further when Long set up Cullinane for their second goal.

Murphy and Blackton pointed for Erin’s Own and a late goal for them, from the latter made it 2-11 to 1-7 at half-time.

Bandon stated the second half well, with Cahalane hitting three in a row to make it 2-14 to 1-7, before Cathal Lenihan got Erin’s Own's second goal to close the gap. But with 47 minutes gone, another Bandon goal swung the game in their favour, when Carey raised a green flag, 3-17 to 2-8.

Again, Erin’s Own responded with Lenihan getting his second.

With time running out it was 3-19 to 3-9 in Bandon’s favour, before Ger O’Mahony raised a late green flag for Erin’s Own. It was too little too late as Bandon ran out deserving winners.
