It should be a great occasion on Sunday in Castletownbere for the 2025 Beara Junior B Football decider.

Glengarriff and Garnish will contest the final with throw-in at 2pm in what is a huge game for both clubs with silverware on the line.

Both proud football clubs in Beara have struggled for the last number of years with dwindling numbers, but they have kept the show on the road. Lifting a trophy this weekend would be massive on so many levels for whichever team comes out on top.

Both finalists are first teams and also the fact that there are no teams at the A grade in Beara at this moment in time, it just adds more intrigue to this contest.

Glengarriff beat Adrigole’s second team in the quarter-final on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-7 before taking down another second string in the shape of Castletownbere in the last four, 1-13 to 0-13.

Garnish have only played one game to reach Sunday's final. It was a convincing one too against Urhan’s reserves. Well-taken goals from Brian Terry O’Sullivan, Seán Terry O’Sullivan and Shane Moran went a long way to getting Garnish over the line. They won in the end, 3-15 to 0-8.

It’s a very interesting final pairing and a tricky one to predict. Glengarriff got soundly beaten by Adrigole’s second team in the decider last year on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-9 so they will want first of all an improved performance on the big day.

They did reach the McCarthy Insurance Group Confined JBFC quarter-finals back in June where they lost to the eventual winners Ballyphehane, 5-11 to 0-10. It was a good learning experience for Glengarriff. They last won this B grade in their own division back in 2020.

Callum McElhinney, Gearóid O’Sullivan and Philip Harrington are some of their side’s influential figures.

Garnish have recent history by winning the Beara JAFC, but a lot has happened since their last crown back in 2018.

Éanna Murphy was an influential player back then and he continues to be his side’s main man. There’s a sense that if he’s on it on Sunday, Garnish can win the championship they last won as recently as two years ago.
