The Co-op SuperStores IAHC Group 3 game between Aghada and Kildorrery is to be replayed.
Last Sunday week, the sides met in Caherlag and the official scoreline had 1-22 attributed to the east Cork side and 2-19 to their north Cork opponents. However, Aghada believed that William Leahy’s point in first-half injury time was wrongly credited to Kildorrery – the scoreboard and referee had an interval tally of 1-11 to 0-8 in their favour, whereas Aghada felt it should have been 1-10 to 0-9.
In the second half, Aghada responded well. Leahy, Noah Devoy and Mark McCarthy were among the scores while 45-year-old Pearse O'Neill was influential in attack.
The former Cork footballer played a key role in the late goal that Fionn O’Connor scored, with Leahy’s 14th point of the game meaning that Agahda had outscored Kildorrery by six points in the second half – a win in their minds but a draw in the official record.
However, following a hearing before the Cork County Board Competitions Control Committee (CCC) this week, the original result has been voided and the sides will do battle once again on Saturday, August 30 at Páirc Uí Rinn with a 6.30pm throw-in. Entry to the game will be free of charge.

In the other game in Group 3 played on the opening weekend, last year’s beaten finalists Erin’s Own – who had won the Premier JHC in 2023 – beat their predecessors as the winners of the fifth tier, Ballygiblin.
By the time Aghada and Kildorrery face each other again, they will have opened their campaigns. Aghada meet Erin’s Own in an all-Imokilly derby this Friday night in Carrigtwohill at 7.30pm while Kildorrery face their neighbours Ballygiblin in Glanworth on Sunday at 2pm.
Both are in football action on the weekend of August 23 and 24 – Aghada face Bantry Blues in the McCarthy Insurance Group Premier IFC while Kildorrery take on Gabriel Rangers in the IAFC – and then, after the re-fixed hurling game, the IAHC group stage concludes on Saturday, September 6.
All six matches on that day take place at 4.30pm, with Aghada facing Ballygiblin at Páirc Uí Rinn while Erin’s Own take on Kildorrery in Dungourney.
It is the second year in a row that the CCC have had to call for a result to be voided due to a mix-up over the score – in 2024, Kilbrittain were initially thought to have beaten Aghabullogue in the JBHC semi-final but an appeal from the Coachford club led to the match being played again, with the outcome reversed.
