With the opening round of the Cork football championships now complete, all 60 county clubs – along with Divisions/Colleges section sides Carbery and UCC – have played their first game. The only exception is Duhallow and Muskerry, who met in the section final.
Unsurprisingly then, the top two scorers in the Premier Senior Football Championship hail from those two divisions. Duhallow’s Luke Murphy leads the way after registering an impressive 2-13 (0-4 f) across games against UCC and Muskerry.
Close behind him in second is fellow Cork footballer Chris Óg Jones, who notched 3-8 (1-0 pen, 0-3 f, 1 tpf) during the two games. Impressively, Chris Óg also leads the way in the Premier Intermediate FC scoring charts after scoring 2-9 in Uibh Laoire’s 3-18 to 0-17 win over Kiskeam.

Among club players, the standout in the top grade so far is Newcestown’s David Buckley. Carrying his two-point shooting form from league into championship, he shot 0-12 (including four two-pointers, one from play) in their win over Valley Rovers.
Divisional reps round out the top five, with Duhallow’s Jack Curtin and Muskerry’s Liam O’Connor fourth and fifth respectively.
Brian Coakley, Olan O’Donovan, Mark Cronin and Conor Russell are each tied with a total of eight points worth of scores from sixth to ninth.
Top of the Senior A FC chart is Cill na Martra’s Ciarán Ó Duinnín, with his 1-6 (1 tp) all from play in their draw against Knocknagree.
Conor Corbett starred for Clyda Rovers in their two-goal win over Fermoy, scoring 1-4 from play. He’s tied for second with Diarmuid Mac Thomáis, who notched 0-7 for Béal Átha'n Ghaorthaidh, and Fionn Herlihy, Dohenys, who also grabbed 1-4.

Corbett’s clubmate Eoin Walsh rounds out the top five with 1-2.
Trailing Chris Óg in the PIFC table is Michael Cahalane, after the Bandon stalwart kicked 0-11 as they lost to Glanmire.
Kiskeam’s Seán O’Sullivan (0-9) and Nemo Rangers’ Jack Coogan (1-6) are tied for third spot after impressive individual hauls in the first round.
