The draw for the 2025 Tom Creedon Cup took place recently.
This famous competition in memory of former Macroom and Cork footballer Tom Creedon has been running since 1985 providing long-lasting memories.
Tom was a leader on and off the field. A National League winner with Cork in 1980, he also won Railway Cups with Munster in 1977 and 1981.
He captained Macroom through the ranks and helped them return to senior level just before his untimely death. Tom’s legacy is one of commitment, class and Cork pride and this trophy keeps his memory alive.
There are eight teams in this year’s competition, two more than last year. There’s no doubt that the Tom Creedon Cup still holds a special place in the hearts of many on Leeside.

Before the restructuring of the Cork County Championship before the 2020 campaign, the Tom Creedon Cup used to be a pre-season tournament. In recent years, it has been played during the summer, but last year, the decider was played on the first weekend of November.
It proved to be an historic evening in the Castle Grounds on that particular Saturday when fittingly Macroom defeated Boherbue to claim the trophy for the first time in 27 years.
The celebrations afterwards showed how much winning the cup, named after one of their greatest ever players, meant to everyone involved with Macroom GAA.
This year’s competition will be played on a knockout basis, adding to the drama and urgency that defines the Tom Creedon Cup each year.
The holders Macroom will take on Ilen Rovers, 2023 winners Knocknagree lock horns with O’Donovan Rossa, Millstreet will do battle with last year’s Premier JFC winners Kilmurry and finally, St Vincent’s go head-to-head with Naomh Abán.

O'Donovan Rossa were the first winners of the Tom Creedon Cup 40 years ago. They will be looking to repeat the trick this season.
The quarter-final fixtures at the moment are down for the weekend of Saturday, July 12, but teams have the option of playing the previous weekend if suits.
There is no date for the final, but Macroom GAA will engage with the teams involved and try their best to accommodate everyone and get the fixtures played in a timely manner.
