Late Geasley point secures Senior Camogie League title for St Finbarr's against Éire Óg

A late point from Farrah Geasley saw St Finbarr’s win the Cork club senior league title at Castle Road on Monday night.
Credit must go to both clubs for a highly competitive game considering the torrential rain and driving wind.
Both played their part, with the Barrs having the wind in the first half as they tried to push ahead, led by Kate Wall.
But huge credit must go to Éire Óg who battled all the way to the end, with the likes of Ally McGrath, Clara Murphy and Isobel Sheehan prominent for them.
Despite playing against the gale, Éire Óg took the lead in the second minute when Edel Sheehan found the back of the net. Fiona Twohig added a point as they started the better of the two sides.
But the Barrs started to settle, with Wall to the fore, and she got them off the mark after five minutes.
Aoife Byrne O’Riordan added a second for the Barrs, with Ella Wiggington Barrett getting their third, after nine minutes, to make it 0-3 to 1-1.
Keeva McCarthy had the sides level, before Nicole Olden put the Barrs in front for the first time. Byrne O’Riordan extended their lead before two frees from McCarthy made it 0-8 to 1-1 after 21 minutes.
Wall added another as the Barrs were making full use of the wind at this stage.
Éire Óg were unlucky not to get a second goal when Edel Sheehan played Clara Murphy in but her shot went narrowly wide.
Geasley got the last score of the half, as the Barrs led by 0-10 to 1-1 as Éire Óg now turned to play with the strong wind at their backs.
Points from Isobel Sheehan, Emma Crowley and Twohig had the Barrs lead down to three, before Olden was on target for the winners.
Again Éire Óg responded with Edel Sheehan, Crowley (2) and Twohig all scoring to level it after 48 minutes, 1-8 to 0-11.
Olden put the Barrs in front, with Isobel Sheehan seeing the sides level going into injury-time.
Geasley then got that late score to see the Barrs win, made all the better as the likes of Meabh Cahalane, Aoife O’Neill, Sorcha McCartan, Orlaith and Kate Cahalane were all unable to line out for them.
