There is another busy weekend of Cork Youth football ahead with plenty of Daly Industrial Supplies Leagues and Cup encounters.
However, the FAI Youth Inter-League semi-final between the Cork Youth League and the Wexford Football League at the North End FC Grounds on Saturday (2pm) will take centre-stage.
Cork put in a superb performance when they defeated the Kerry District League 6-2 in the Munster final in Charleville and team manager Louis Nolan will be looking for a similar display from his team in their bid to reach another final.
Corinthians’ hotshot Ty Corcoran, along with his captain Kealan Crowe, are in flying form, for their club and Cork, and both were on target for Corinthians in their 2-0 victory away to Carrigtwohill United in their U18 Premier League game on Monday.
Corcoran has seven inter-league goals to his name and will be eager to add to his tally. For Corcoran, it’s all about the quality of ball he gets from his team-mates, as he is always willing to run into spaces for them to try to find him.
“I’m really delighted and honoured to get to play for the Cork youth team and getting on the scoresheet to try get the right result for my team-mates is very important to me,” Corcoran said.
“I know that scoring goals gives me great confidence and satisfaction.
“We have really gelled as a team and that’s all down to the hard work from our management team, and I know we play against each at local level, some of us do play together with our schools.
“Winning the Munster final was a great feeling and experience for us all, but now we are totally focused on tomorrow’s game and we know that we won’t have anything easy as Wexford came through the Leinster section, so we are expecting a very difficult game.
“We all have being working very hard in training since the end of September with the Cork squad, but we always take it one game at a time and our manager hasn’t let us get carried away after any of our games to date.
“I want to thank the Cork Youth League Committee for the way they look after us, as they have really looked after us players and management.
“On my own future, I would love to play in the League of Ireland someday. However, I just want to concentrate on finishing the season well for my club, as we are the semi-final of the Munster Youth Cup at home to Waterford side Tramore AFC.
“We are also unbeaten in the U18 Premier League and we want to finish the season strong by winning as many trophies as possible.
“However, this weekend all my focus will be trying to get my team-mates into the All-Ireland final and we know we have to look after the business tomorrow if we are to achieve that."
