It will be a very interesting start to the Co-Op Superstores Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship for last year’s beaten finalists, Carrigaline, as they take on Cloyne in the opening round.
The east Cork side were relegated to this grade and will be hoping to bounce back straight away, but they will have it all to do against Carrigaline in their opening round clash.
Carrigaline were very impressive on their run to the final, but last out to Watergrasshill in the decider, who have since gone on and added the Munster title to their trophy cabinet.
The other opening game in Group 1 will see Éire Óg take on Ballymartle, two sides who will be looking to make up for what were disappointing seasons overall this year.
Another two amongst the favourites for this title, Ballincollig and Ballinhassig, clash in the opening round in Group 2.
Castlemartyr and Kilworth are the other two sides in this group as both will be hoping for a winning start ahead of their clashes with Ballincollig and Ballinhassig.

Mallow, beaten in the semi-final in 2024, will take on Dungourney in their opening tie in Group 3, with Lisgoold and Valley Rovers the other two in this group.
Lisgoold were promoted for 2025 and will be hoping to make an impression, but won’t have it all their own way against Valley Rovers.

The other game in Group 3 will see Aghada take on Kildorrery. Aghada won the relegation playoff in 2024 and will be hoping for a far better season in 2025.
Midleton, who lost out in the semi to Erin’s Own, will get their campaign underway against Mayfield in Group 1.
Bandon take on Russell Rovers in the other game in Group 1.
Russell Rovers where promoted to this grade and will be looking to keep that winning momentum going.
They play in the All-Ireland club semi-final next weekend, with the hope of reaching the final after Christmas.
That semi-final is against Ballinascreen from Derry, at 1pm at The Downs, Westmeath on Saturday.
Group 2 sees Aghabullogue take on Blackrock, with the Rockies favourites to get off to a winning start.
