After being treated to five exciting football county finals last weekend, all but one saw a winner come away with the title – as Aghabullogue and Killshannig’s draw ensured they must go again.

The near total conclusion of the championships means this is the final team of the week for the season – as we pick the best performers from the five games last weekend across each grade.

Goalkeeper: Patrick Doyle (Knocknagree)

Doyle’s kickouts and the pace at which he delivered them for Knocknagree were crucial – as he played his part in keeping Carrigaline under pressure throughout. The goalkeeper also made a superb save in first half.

Corner-back: Bríain Murphy (Nemo Rangers)

While playing at full back, Murphy did well to mark Brian Hurley despite not being 100% fit. An overall impressive display and one of Nemo’s better performers.

Full-back: Niall Quirke (Carrigaline)

Quirke was immense throughout with a rock solid showing for Carrigaline. He was there late on to collect Patrick Doyle’s free attempt that came off the post, which could have been an awkward one for the eventual champions.

Corner-back: William Ahern (Canovee)

Impressive in possession, Ahern’s movement and defending throughout were key. He played a crucial role in the game’s only goal, as he gave the long delivery in that led to Connor O’Neill’s green flag for Canovee.

Half-back: Darragh Murray (Glanmire)

Superb running up and down the flank were key to Glanmire, as Murray put in an impressive performance in the IAFC victory over Boherbue.

Centre-back: Tomás Collins (Kilmurry)

One of Kilmurry’s top performers, Collins was immense. He starred for the winners doing it all defensively – as they managed to get over the line after last year’s disappointment.

Half-back: Mark Collins (Castlehaven)

Another Collins, this one Castlehaven veteran Mark – takes a spot in the defence. He produced another top performance against Nemo as he did in last year’s county decider, leaving no question around his inclusion.

Midfielder: Kevin Cremin (Boherbue)

Cremin put in a stellar shift for Boherbue right throughout, and was crucial to several of their scores as the team narrowly fell short against Glanmire.

Midfielder: James O’Mullane (Kilmurry) 0-2

Not only did O’Mullane get the game’s levelling score, his superb defending late on denied Canovee what was sure to be the game winning goal. A top performance in their derby win.

Half-forward: Daniel Hogan (Glanmire) 0-1

While he only got the one point – Hogan carried the ball well and showed his prowess as a dual player. A huge effort Glanmire as they came away with a historic victory.

Centre-forward: John Corkery (Aghabullogue) 1-3

As Aghabullogue drew with Kilshannig – Corkery was one man on the pitch who was utterly faultless. An outstanding return of 1-3 and not a single wide to his name.

Half-forward: Liam Wall (Kilmurry) 0-5 (0-4 f)

An important haul of 0-5 even if only one came from play, his final score at the death proved to be the winner as Kilmurry overcame Canovee by the minimum.

Corner-forward: Michael Hurley (Castlehaven) 0-4

As he did last year for Castlehaven, Hurley starred once more in the final against Nemo, and he earns a spot in the team for his performance in the final for the second year running. Scoring 0-4 is good on any day, let alone in a final against such a tough opponent.

Full-forward: Anthony O’Connor (Knocknagree) 1-3 (0-1 f)

While the frustrations will continue for Knocknagree after falling short, O’Connor’s performance was of real quality. Notching 1-2 from play, he was always there to punish Carrigaline – and stole possession before taking his goal in style.

Corner-forward: Darragh O’Sullivan (Kilshannig) 0-6 (0-3 f)

O’Sullivan did it all for Kilshannig, but two crucial frees late on to rescue the draw against Aghabullogue leaves no doubt surrounding his inclusion. He stepped up in when it counted.

Substitutes:

William Ronan (Kilmurry)

Thomas O’Mahony (Castlehaven)

Brian O’Driscoll (Carrigaline) 0-2

Éanna O’Hanlon (Kilshannig) 0-4

David O’Connor (Boherbue) 0-7 (0-2 f)

Éanna Desmond (Carrigaline) 0-5 (0-2 f)

Jack Cahalane (Castlehaven) 0-3

Aaron O’Sullivan (Aghabullogue) 0-3
