St Finbarr's bridged a two-year gap to claim the AOS Security Seandún Junior B Hurling title before a sizeable attendance at Ballinlough.

After a promising start by Whitechurch, the tide turned in St Finbarr’s favour when they took the lead for the first time, just before the interval. St Finbarr’s sealed the game with their second goal two minutes into the second half, while Whitechurch got a single point from play after the break.

Conor O’Brien put Whitechurch ahead with a goal from the corner of the St Finbarr’s square within a minute of the throw-in.

St Finbarr’s moved within touching distance of Whitechurch as Gary O’Sullivan drilled home a goal from the edge of the square, to leave the minimum between the sides.

Cian Buckley traded two points for St Finbarr’s to one for Whitechurch’s Jimmy Hegarty, to level matters. Buckley also pointed a free with the last action of the opening half, to give St Finbarr's an interval lead of 1-4 to 1-3.

St Finbarr’s upped the ante after the interval. O’Sullivan got their second goal within two minutes of the resumption and Buckley pointed his second free.

Whitechurch responded with two pointed frees by O’Connell.

Midway through the second half, St Finbarr’s tagged on three unanswered points with Barry Mannion scoring from play. Dan Kennedy and Buckley converted a free each.

O’Connell pointed his fourth free for Whitechurch. This was followed by two points in the space of a minute for St Finbarr’s from play by Cork footballer Stephen Sherlock and Buckley’s fourth free.

In stoppage time, Padraic Dennehy tagged on a point from play for Whitechurch and O’Connell converted his fifth free. Sherlock and Eoin Hallahan replied with points for St Finbarr’s.
