Cobh Ramblers have announced a financial takeover from FC32, an international group of experienced sport executives.

The move comes after the conclusion of their League of Ireland First Division campaign, where the Rams missed out on the playoff places. Undoudtedly a disappointing result given the relative success they had in 2022.

FC32 are focussed on a player-first platform, and have shown that with the acquisition of several clubs across the world including Swiss second tier side AC Bellizona and Austrian club SKN St Pölten.

Cobh Ramblers mark their most recent pick up and further expansion is planned, with the aim to establish a senior women’s side by 2026 a top priority.

Cobh Ramblers have been centred around the development of local talent since their foundation in 1922, with Irish footballing icon Roy Keane the most notorious of their success stories.

For club Chairman Bill O’Leary, FC32’s acquisition will further strengthen their strive for success and player development.

“We are proud to partner with FC32, who share our vision for the club’s future,” he said. “The Board of management and our club members are excited and hugely in favour of this potentially transformative deal.

“It recognizes our history, our relatively strong operating and financial models and positions us for growth in so many areas into the future.”

“Our focus is on player development and high performance,” commented Paul Francis, Founder and CEO of FC32. “We aim to partner with Cobh Ramblers to build a world-class talent pipeline and elevate the club to new heights.”

Francis also has a background in sports science and has previously worked with American NFL franchise Miami Dolphins.

“The community’s support is vital, and we look forward to accelerating growth while honouring the club’s rich tradition,” added Deanna Brown, President & Co-Founder.
