Another week of club football action has gone by, and so it’s time to pick the team of the week once more, made up of the top performers from the top three grades.

There were so many players who narrowly missed out as always, namely Ben Seartan who kicked six from play against Cill na Martra, as well as Dohenys' Rhys Coakley.

Nemo’s Ross Corkery and Carbery’s John O’Rourke are also worthy mentions.

Goalkeeper: Colm O’Driscoll (Bishopstown)

In what proved to be a huge result for the Town, Colm O’Driscoll was excellent from kickouts and made two important stops to ensure Bishopstown defeated Newmarket.

Corner-back: Tommy Walsh (Kanturk) 0-1

As Kanturk annihilated O’Donovan Rossa, Walsh played a huge part in it. While largely a team effort, the Cork defender was rock solid at the back and caused all sorts of problems down the wing.

Full-back: Tom Clancy (Clonakilty)

Though Clonakilty failed to defeat Carbery Rangers in a crucial contest, Tom Clancy was excellent and full-back and held firm throughout the game. He was key in ensuring Clon kept a clean sheet.

Corner-back: Seth Thornton (Bantry Blues)

Bantry picked up an impressive win over Bandon, and it wouldn’t have happened without Thornton – who was very impressive in defence for the blues.

Half-back: Matty Taylor (Mallow) 0-2

As he always does – Matty Taylor impressed once more, securing a spot in this week’s team for the second game week in a row. He scored two crucial points as Mallow defeated the Barrs in the PSFC, and put in another strong defensive shift where the north Cork side needed to deliver against one of the best in the county.

Centre-back: Rory Maguire (Castlehaven)

The Cork defender was great against St Michael’s, and though it was an easy victory in the end for the Haven he was superb at the back.

Half-back: Seán Ó Fóirréidh (Cill na Martra) 0-1

With Cill na Martra aiming to continue their rise after winning the PIFC last year, Seán Ó Fóirréidh was outstanding against Béal Átha’n Ghaortaidh and picked up a point to go with his performance at half back.

Midfield: Seán Ó Luasa (Béal Átha’n Ghaortaidh) 1-0

While they came out on the wrong side confirming their elimination from the SAFC, Seán Ó Luasa put in a good shift in midfield and got an important goal.

Midfield: Barry Cripps (Nemo Rangers)

As Nemo made it two wins from two, Barry Cripps impressed in the middle of the park against Éire Óg.

Half-forward: Brian Hurley (Castlehaven) 0-5 (0-3 f)

Always class, the experienced Brian Hurley delivered once again for the Haven, this time as they dismantled St Michael’s.

Centre-forward: Chris Óg Jones (Uibh Laoire) 1-6 (0-4 f)

One of three players to feature in the team of the week back-to-back, Chris Óg Jones again led the line for Uibh Laoire, this time as he picked up 1-2 from play and turned the game in his side’s favour.

Half-forward: Evan O’Sullivan (Aghabullogue) 1-2

As Aghabullogue continued their strong start to the PIFC, Evan O’Sullivan impressed kicking 1-2 from play as they won by six against Ilen Rovers.

Corner-forward: Daniel Ó Duinnín (Cill na Martra) 0-4

One of the top performers this week – Daniel Ó Duinnín stood out in a roaming role, kicking four points from play and pulling the strings for the Gaeltacht club.

Full-forward: Anthony O’Connor (Knocknagree) 2-5 (0-3 f)

As Knocknagree secured qualification for the knockout phase, Anthony starred as he kicked 2-2 from play. He was easily the team’s best player in a game where the entire team impressed against Clyda Rovers, and will be key when they face Bishopstown in search of a straight route to the semis.

Corner-forward: Shane Ó Duinnín (Cill na Martra) 2-2 (0-1 m)

He took his goals well and provided a point from a mark to go with his 2-1 from play, but Shane was superb for Cill na Martra in a game where the entire team stepped up to the challenge against Béal Átha’n Ghaortaidh.

Substitutes:

Diarmuid Lester (Bishopstown)

Brian O’Sullivan (Kanturk)

Sam Copps (Mallow)

Keith White (Dohenys) 0-5 (0-1 f)

Arthur Coakley (Bantry Blues) 1-6 (0-4 f)

Jack Cahalane (Castlehaven) 1-2
