Charleville 0-25 Glen Rovers 0-19 

CHARLEVILLE won a thrilling RedFM Division 1 Hurling League game at Charleville on Friday evening when the hosts outscored the city side 0-8 to 0-2 in the last seven minutes.

Charleville opened the scoring with early points by Alan Dennehy and Tim Hawe. Dean Brosnan opened the Glen account with Evan Murphy placing Brosnan to make it 0-2 each.

The home side hit the front again with Killian Cagney (free) and impressive David Forde before The city side hit back again through David Noonan. Glen Rovers again hit the front with Brosnan soloing through and pointing followed by a Murphy free. 

A well-placed puck-out by Cian Collins found Gavin Kelleher who set up Tim Hawe for a very good point with Gearoid Mulcahy replying. Cagney (free) and Adam O'Sullivan exchanged a point before Forde nabbed another great point. 

Good play by Conor Buckley led to an Oran O'Connell point with the excellent Simon Kennefick scoring followed by another Murphy free: 0-10 to 0-8. Charleville battled back through Alan Dennehy and Cagney before an injury-time Murphy free gave Glen Rovers a narrow half-time lead.

Brosnan struck again twice on the resumption, in between another Cagney free: 0-13 to 0-11. 

A foul on the lively Hawe led to a Cagney free and good play in the 37th minute by Danny Flynn set up Hawe to make it 0-13 each.

Brosnan edged Glen Rovers in front again before Flynn was fouled for Cagney's levelling free. Dennehy nudged the Rathluirc side in front with the Brosnan making it 0-15 each entering the last quarter. 

They were also deadlocked at 0-16 and 0-17 each by the 50th minute but Charleville finished at full tilt. Their defence were awesome and their attack in regular supply took some good scores by Forde (2), Cagney (2) Conor Buckley and O'Connell as they moved 0-23 to 0-17 ahead. 

Glen Rovers tried very hard but they needed a goal and Charleville's defence held firm. Kennefick and Murphy pointed for the Glen but the hosts saw it out with Forde placing Cagney for a score and DJ Collins having the last say.
