College Corinthians are the JAKO Ireland Munster Youth Cup champions after second half goals from Brian O’Sullivan Connell and Aaron Gui helped them defeat Douglas Hall 2-0 in the final at Turner’s Cross.
The real hero on the night for Corinthians was goalkeeper Raymond Foley Kiss as he made a number of saves that made sure his side took the trophy home and the bragging rights on offer between these local rivals.
Carrigaline dominated proceedings during the first quarter.
Connor O’Leary was excellent during this period, as his close control and set-piece delivery pulled Corinthians apart.

Foley Kiss kept the game score-less by making a string of excellent saves and marshalling those around him during a burst of corners.
Corinthians slowly began pushing up and creating chances; and this started with a header from Keith McCarthy going just over at the near post, and it continued when Geoffrey Zeph stung the palms of Robert Barry.
As Corinthians began to enjoy themselves in possession, Ben O’Connell muscled in to win the ball in midfield and he tried to play a quick pass to an unmarked Temidayo Best Alade, and he was flagged for offside as he went to shoot.
The forward’s next touch inside the area was met with a harsh tackle and a penalty was given to Carrigaline in the 30th minute.
Calum Landa took this, and it was superbly saves on to the post by goalkeeper Raymond Foley Kiss.
The first half ended with Noah Ryan crossing to O’Sullivan Connell and Corinthians were denied a goal by a last ditch clearance at the back post. They were given a corner and Carrigaline tried to counter attack after a powerful header dropped the ball into the path of Alade.

The forward tried a chipped pass to Cian Spillane, who was out-muscled by Foley Kiss inside the penalty area.
The game restarted with O’Sullivan Connell running into space and having a shot blocked by the Carrigaline defence.
Landa tried to issue a quick response and was denied by Foley Kiss at the St Anne’s End.

O’Sullivan Connell went for goal with his next touch of the ball, and had to watch as the ball went just over the intended target.
Everything came together for O’Sullivan Connell in the 62nd minute, and a close range finish by the forward made it 1-0 to Corinthians.
The team managed by John O’Brien had no interest in sitting back and defending the lead.
The players continued to push up, and they doubled their advantage with a specular strike from Gui.
The full-back cut inside on the left and unleashed a shot that went across the goal and in, and Robert Barry had no chance of getting to it over the pace of the ball.
Alade tried to immediately pull one back for Carrigaline, and a close range save from Foley Kiss put his shot out for a corner that came to nothing.
Carrigaline emptied their bench in an attempt to get back into the game, but it was too little too late.
