THE countdown is on to the start of the league, where Cork have a heavy schedule of away games in the league.

Cork have three home matches in football and just two in hurling this spring.

The footballers throw in away to Donegal on January 28, while the hurlers are away to Clare the weekend after. Major action in the Páirc kicks off on February 10.

The other home hurling tie is against Waterford two weeks later. The footballers have Cavan, Kildare, and Armagh on Leeside, the Orchard travelling down for the last match on Saturday, March 23.

The Munster championship commences in April — the footballers in Páirc Uí Chaoimh against Limerick on April 7, and the hurlers against Clare on April 28 and Limerick on May 11.

The Bruce Springsteen concert means the footballers will have to utilise Páirc Uí Rinn for their home game in the round-robin series of the All-Ireland or the Tailteann Cup.

The hurlers will be vying a top three finish — so if they don’t reach the Munster final, they’ll have a shot at All-Ireland glory with a preliminary quarter-final on June 15-16.
