THE Cork senior footballers will start their 2024 season with the customary provincial McGrath Cup pre-season competition with an away game to Clare on Wednesday, January 3.
That is followed ten days later with a home match against Waterford with the winner of the group advancing to the final which is pencilled in for Friday, January 19. Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary are in the other group.
Cork are the defending champions after beating Limerick in the 2023 decider on a scoreline of 0-19 to 2-7.
The Rebels Allianz football league Division 2 campaign will get underway on Sunday, January 28 with a long trip to Donegal with a 1.45pm throw-in time in Ballybofey. It will be another lengthy journey a week later for John Cleary’s team as Cork face Louth in Ardee on Sunday, February 4 at 1pm.

There is then a two-week gap with Cork entertaining Cavan in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, February 17 at 4pm. Eight days later the Rebels travel to Ederney St Joseph’s to lock horns with Fermanagh at 2pm. The fifth league outing will see Cork welcome Kildare to the Páirc on Sunday, March 3 at 3.30pm which is followed two weeks later with a battle with Colm O’Rourke’s Meath in Páirc Tailteann on St Patrick’s Day with throw-in at 1.45pm.
Cleary’s charges will finish the regular league season with a home game against Armagh on Saturday, March 23 at 7pm.

In the Munster SFC, Cork meet Limerick in the quarter-final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday, April 7 with the winners taking on Kerry in the last four on Saturday, April 20. If the Leesiders were to defeat Limerick on the banks of the Lee, the showdown with the old enemy would take place in Killarney and would be streamed on the GAA platform GAAGO. Cork have won 37 Munster titles, but haven't lifted the trophy since 2012.
