Kinsale trainer Robert Tyner lands Cork Grand National at Mallow Race course

Sir Bob & Simon Torrens with groom Joan Tyner Frank Berry & Robert Tyner win the Cork Grand National.

This will be a weekend Doneraile jockey Darragh O'Keeffe won't forget in a hurry.

Fresh from a superb victory in yesterday's featured Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby, he recorded a double much to the delight of his big local following at Cork Racecourse in Mallow today.

Darragh's double came courtesy of Flamborough (7/4) and Solitary Man (5/2) on an afternoon where punters enjoyed fruitful pickings.

The €45K Paddy Power Cork Grand National attracted a huge crowd to the Mallow venue this afternoon.

The featured race with a pot of €27K to the winner went to Kinsale trainer Robert Tyner.

His Sir Bob prevailed in a head bobber under a determined ride from Simon Torrens for JP McManus.

The winner dug deep to deny local jockey Michael O'Sullivan on Call The Tune who was bred in East Cork by Cora Cronin.

The other highlight on a quality National Hunt card was the Grade 3 €31,500 Paddy Power Irish EBF Novice Chase.

The in-form Gavin Cromwell stable fresh from a Cheltenham double last weekend, held a strong hand with Letsbeclearaboutit fourth in the Albert Bartlet at Cheltenham following up an impressive chasing debut at Gowran Park last month.

He jumped for fun under Sean Flanagan and looks a progressive chaser.

The listed Paddy Power Novice Hurdle saw a rematch from last month between old adversaries Desert Heather and Solitary Man who met the mare on 11lb better terms for a neck defeat in October.

Darragh O'Keeffe's incredible weekend continued as he completed a double onboard Solitary Man for Enda Bolger.

The winner has chaser written all over him and has enjoyed a lucrative summer/autumn campaign.

Racing opened with two divisions of the Paddy Power Horse's Mouth Maiden Hurdle.

The opening division saw Gordon Elliott's recent Galway bumper winner Dee Capo well supported from evens into 8/13.

He duly landed the odds making most of the running to win by six lengths.

Division Two initiated the double for Doneraile jockey Darragh O'Keeffe with Flamborough who went off 7/4 favourite, despite a late drift on the exchanges.

Fresh from his win in Wetherby yesterday Darragh was always in a good position on the 79 rated flat horse.

He won easily from the promising French recruit Jigaro who looks a sure-fire future winner for Gordon Elliot.

The Paddy Power Mares Maiden Hurdle market suggested it was a dead match between Willie Mullins dual bumper winner Abi's Champ and Banprionsa a facile winner of a Lingstown point to point for Richard Black and now sporting the Honeysuckle colours of Kenny Alexander.

It was Paul Townend who prevailed on Abi's Champ recording her third career victory with a facile success.

She was dismounted quickly after the line by Paul with reportedly a tendon injury.

All the money on the exchanges came for the runner up Banprionsa, who showed enough to suggest that she can win her maiden hurdle next time.

The front pair were thirteen lengths clear of the third.
